Dog Diarrhea and Vomiting on Carpet

Dog Question: I came home from work today and my dog had vomited on the carpet and has diarrhea. There has been no change in his diet. What could be the cause of this, and what can I do to help him?

Sorry to hear about your dog.

It sounds like your dog may have eaten some garbage or something else that did not agree with him.

Most cases of vomiting and diarrhea pass quickly in dogs.  Normally dogs will vomit once and then they are okay.

If you dog still is doing this today I would see your vet because both vomiting and diarrhea can cause dogs to become dehydrated quickly.

In most cases allowing your dog to only have water for 24 hours often solves most cases of diarrhea and vomiting.  After that slowly return them to their regular food.
