Cat Waking Us Up Early

Cat Question: Dear Doctor,

My girlfriend adopted a street cat which now lives mostly in her home but unfortunately wakes her up in early hours of the morning, meowing to be let outside.  This is causing her serious sleep problems and if she puts the cat out, he still might be meowing, waking up neighbors.

Is there any kind of mild sleeping medicine which might help her cat sleep through the night, or any other remedy for this?

This is a common problem with cat owners.

Cats sleep all day and so they wake up early.

Try to play with your cat before you go to bed.  If you are watching TV then play with your cat.  Don't let your cat sleep before you do.
