Cat Scratching Face and Neck

Cat Question: We have a male domestic cat that is about three years old. He has been scratching himself around his face neck and sides, to the point that has scratched to the point of bleeding. We have other cats and they don't have the same problem he has. We are wondering how to care for his wounds and if we can bathe him?
Thank You

Hi Sally,

It sounds like he may have a food allergy.

Cats that have food allergies normally scratch alot around their face.

You could try putting triple antibiotic oitment on the wounds which should help.  I don't think bathing would help as much, unless he got into something.

If the scratching continues please look into the possibility of food allergies with our vet.
