Beagle Trouble After Eating

Dog Question: I have a lab/beagel mix and she is 12 years old. After my dog eats, her stomach area gets puffed out and tight when you feel it, it sounds like she is straining to breath, she shakes when she breaths out sometimes, sometimes she dry heves or it sounds like she is coughing but then something comes up and she just swallows it, and she really doesn't want to move. After a few hours she will breath ok, want to move, and her stomach puffyness goes down some. Do you have any idea whats wrong with her?

Sorry to hear about your dog.

Please elevate your dog's food bowls so they don't sit on the floor, and also try to feed smaller meals.

Some dogs tend to swallow a lot of air when they eat.  This is possibly what is happening with your dog.

Raising the food bowls several inches off the ground should help.
