Small Maltese Mix Has Started Limping

Dog Question: We just got a new dog, from the human society, two weeks ago, he is a small maltese mix, 2yrs old, and approximately 7lbs.

We took him to our vet, and had him checked out, and seemed to be in good health.

He gets along great with my 4yr old boxer, the sleep together and play together.

Billy ( the new dog ) has started limping off and on the past three days.  ( it is his right rear leg ) He doesn't do it all the time.  He hasn't yelped like he has hurt himself, and doesnt mind letting me run my hands up and down his leg, or over his hips. There is no obivious signs of a problem.

He is able to jump up on his chair or the couch, still wants to play and go running after his toys.

Wondering if I should monitor it for a couple of more days to see if it gets better?

Hi Michelle,

I agree with what you are planning and just monitoring it for a few more days, because it will likely go away.

Most times injuries like that just need time to heal and your vet will likely be unable to help you except to offer aspirin.

If you dog is not in pain, I would just monitor for now.
