My dog frequently licks the anus and vaginal areas

Dog Question: My dog frequently licks he anus and vaginal areas.  We do not see any worms in her stool.  What can cause this?   She is a three year old chocolate lab.  She stays indoors and is kpet clean and is well cared for. I am really concerned because yesterday, her anus itched so much she actually "scooted" her butt across the living room floor.

It sounds very much like she could have impacted or infected anal sacs.

These need to be expressed and possibly treated for infection.

If you have never expressed anal sacs before on a dog, let your vet do it because it can get messy.
