My dog's nail fell and now he is limping and does not put that paw down that much

Dog Question: My dog's nail fell and now he is limping and does not put that paw down that much.  It has been about a day and a half.  Other than that, he is eating, drinking and running around normally.  What should I do????

Sorry to hear about your dog.

The main thing is to make your dog rests for a few days.  Don't let him run around until the nail heals.  Often times if a nail falls off us vets will wrap the foot to prevent infection.

Keep the foot clean and keep an eye out for infection.

Otherwise just try to keep your dog from running for a few days and he should be fine.
