Labradoodle has red/brown spots on the tips of ears
Dog Question: My Labradoodle has red/brown spots on the tips
of his ears. He has had episodes where the spots explode?
and then he has blood everywhere from shaking his head.
The spots remind me of when I clean out his ears and there is a
dark red/brown (bloodlike) substance. It also makes me
think he has some kind of pest laying eggs under his
skin? I tried to clean the stuff off his ears and then to
sanitize the area but it seemed like it got worse. I then
started putting neosporin cream and that seemed to help for
awhile. Is there anything else you would recommend?
Hi Delila,
It sounds like it is probably mites that are causing the
problem, so I don't think neosporin would help at all.
Lime sulphur dips or mitaban is probably what is needed if
they are mites.
You should see your vet to confirm that it is mites before
starting treatment.
