Male cat has trouble urinating, has tried to go several times today but cannot

Cat Question: My cat simon has trouble urinating although he does not have trouble going number 2. he has tried several times today but nothing happens. can you tell me what the problem might be and how to remedy it?

It sounds like your male cat could be blocked which is an emergency if he cannot urinate at all.

The urethra has become blocked which happens in male cats and can be deadly if not corrected quickly.
