Lab Having Leg Cramps

Dog Question: My 5 year old lab has all of a sudden been having back leg problems.  At first we thought he was having leg cramps, but I think it is possibly his leg popping out of joint.  I have an appt with my vet next week.  Is there anything I can give him, or do for him to help in the mean time?

Sorry to hear about your dog.

It sounds like a knee problem.  It could be the kneecap, but more likely there is a rupture of the cruciate ligament.

You should limit his exercise.  If the pain is severe you could give some aspirin until you see the vet.
