Lab Puppy Sick After Eating Chicken Corn

Dog Question: Today my 4 1/2 month old lab mix puppy gave me a scare.  He had been playing extremely hard with his brother out in the yard. He also ate all the chicken feed (cracked corn)that I threw out for the chickens. When we came inside he seemed fine, but then suddenly he started vomiting (it had cracked corn in it) trembling, and drooling really bad.  He couldnt hardly stand up for the trembling.  I went online to a symptom checker and found out that he had possible symptoms of hypoglycemia.  I mixed up sugar water and forced him to drink some. Then I put him to bed for a couple hours in his crate. And when he woke up, he now seems to be fine.  Any idea what may have happened?

Hi Jill,

Glad to hear your puppy is doing okay.

I don't think he had hypoglycemia.  Corn is a carbohydrate so this would be unlikely.

Your puppy was probably feeling a lot of nausea.  Common symptoms of nausea are trembling and drooling.

In other words I think he was just very sick to his stomach.

Keeping his diet very simple over the next fews days would be best.
