Dog Question: How often should I deworm my dog. I currently give my dog monthly heartworm med (heartgard). But im not sure if I need to give it other types of anit-worm meds and if so should I also buy it monthly? thanks for the info.

Hi Arthur,

If you are giving Heartgard Plus, it also kills worms.  You should not need to give another type of deworming medication.

Normally we only deworm puppies.

If you dog goes outside a lot then it doesn't hurt to get a yearly fecal exam done by the vet.

In general adult dogs are not as susceptible to worms as puppies.
