Dog has thrown up about 3-4 times in the past two weeks and 2 times there were little red blood specks in it?

Dog Question: My dog has shown signs of loss of appetite.  She has not been drinking her water today either..just today with the water.  The eating has been kind of off and on.  She went through this a few months ago and I took her to the vet and they injected her with fluids (b-vitamins) and did a complete blood check up which came back normal.  They said that she might have inflammation and gave her medicine for that.  She really seemed to snap out of it after that until now.  The only change that has been recent is that I changed her food..not the brand but just the "flavor" within the brand.  I give her Nutro.  She has thrown up about 3-4 times in the past two weeks and 2 times there were little red blood specks in it.  I cannot afford to take her back to the vet.  Last time it cost me $360 and that is still not paid off.  I dont know what to do

Hi Crystal,

Sorry to hear about your dog.

If your dog does have spots of blood in the vomit then it should see a vet.

But until you are able to try to feed your dog a very bland diet.  You can search on the internet for bland diets for dogs, they mostly involve rice and meat.

The main thing is to keep your dog's diet as simple as possible, no treats and absolutely no human foods.

I assume the vet gave you something to reduce the inflammation of the gut like sucralfate or something similar.  So for this reason feed a very simple diet.

You have to try and make sure your dog continues to drink water or else he will become dehydrated quickly.  This you must see the vet for.

You could try and see if your dog will at least drink some chicken broth.
