Dachshund in Pain

Dog Question: I have a mini dascund, and recently she is in a lot of pain. I have been giving her  OTC dog aspirin,but she is still hurting. Do you have any other suggestions? Do you think a heating pad will help?

Sorry to hear about your dog.

Is it her back that is bothering her?  If so please see a vet right away.

Anything stronger than aspirin needs a prescription from your vet. 

A heating pad should help but make sure it is not too hot. 

Dachshunds are known for back problems.  If it is this then aspirin will not work and you should see your vet.

Be careful with long term aspirin administration (weeks) as it can cause gastrointestinal bleeding.
