Constipated 6lb male cat, feces are at end of rectum and
protrude ever so slightly, what to use for a laxative?
Cat Question: I have an otherwise healthy, but
constipated,6lb male cat. Never has been before. Strictly
inside cat, accustomed to drinking water from a fountain, which
we disassembled in prep. to move. Between the stress of the
commotion and having to drink from a bowl (which he hates) he
has dehydrated (I assume)and now is straining to defecate.
Feces are at end of rectum and protrude ever so slightly, but
withdraw.
I have cod liver oil, olive oil and canola to use for a
laxative, but not sure of dose and have already called vet to
make sure if no results I can bring in am.
Dosage?
Hi Juan,
Just mix a little olive oil in with the food, or give canned
fish in oil which works well.
There is also a product called laxatone which you could find
at a pet store (or any hairball remedy will add lubrication to
the gut.
Keep the cat well hydrated and call your vet if no
progress.
