14 yr old dog quit eating and when she tries to sit up she falls back down

Dog Question: My dog is 14 yrs old. She is a big dog not sure of her breed. She has quit eating and moves very little . When she tries to sit up she falls back down. What is wrong with her? Is it just her time to go?

14 years is old for a large breed dog.  Without doing any exam it is hard to pinpoint any possible causes. 

I would take the dog to the vet for an exam if possible.  If not try to take the dog's temperature to see if there is a fever.  Also try to look in the dog's mouth to see if the tongue is pink.

Try and at least examine your dog yourself to see if you can notice anything that is out of the ordinary.

Also give your dog lots of supportive care.  Lots of fresh water, some appetizing food to keep the appetite up.  Try giving it some meat or something that dog's love.  If it won't even eat that then you need to see a vet.

Being an older dog there are too many possible causes for a dog not eating for me to guess.  Give your dog supportive care until you can see a vet.
