12yr old Boxer Tumor On Leg

Dog Question: i have a female boxer 12 yrs old. she was spayed when she was 2. she was struck by a car when she was 3 months old and had to have a hip replacement. she was not ever able to use the leg, and ended up with a curved spine because of it. she now has a tumor on her good leg and has a hard time getting up and walking. she developed a cyst type knot on her neck directly below her ear. i clean it, spray it with bactene, and put antibacterial cream on it. today somehow she has gotten the entire cyst off leaving a raw hole. is it ok for me to continue what i have been doing for her? i am an older single lady and can't pick her up and take her to the vet and she can't walk to the car. also, do you have any idea how she got it off?  its on the side that she has the very bad leg, shes never been able to scratch with this leg. please help, and thank you, Sally

Hi Sally,

Sorry to hear about your dog, it sounds like a unique one!

I would put an anti-biotic cream on the wound like you have been doing.

I assume you are using some type of triple antibiotic cream you can get from Walgreens.

Cysts grow back often unless they are removed completely.  So don't be surprised if it does.

Maybe your dog got it off by bumping up against a door?
