1 year old cat pregnant around 8
weeks, how will she act when shes about ready to
deliver her babies?
Cat Question: Hi, I have a 1 year old cat that is pregnant,
most likely around 8 weeks, I need to know how a cat will act
when shes about ready to deliver her babies, will there be
anything different that she will do? anything different a few
days before she has the kittens, what should I do to help her
through giving birth? can I touch the kittens as soon as they
are born, after she cleans them off? will she bleed alot?
should I put her bed somewhere quiet? please help me im excited
and scared for both my cat and myself, Thank You
Hi Anastasia,
Normally cat will start to nest about a week before giving
birth so yes, please give her a nice bed in a very quite
area.
Cat's don't show as many signs as dogs do before
birth. Put you can monitor abdomen size and mammary gland
swelling. Also many animals don't eat the day before they
give birth so this might be a clue for you.
I would try to avoid the cat during the birthing process and
don't touch the kittens for at least the first day. Some
cats are very protective of their cats so your cat will let you
know when it is okay.
Don't touch them for at least the first couple of days if
possible. There might be some blood, but not alot.
Good luck
